On May 21, former U.S. Ambassador to China and former Democratic Senator Max Baucus, together with a student delegation from the University of Montana (UM), visited Xinya College. Dean Mei Ciqi of Xinya College warmly welcomed the delegation, and several students from Xinya College took part in the reception.

Accompanied by Dean Mei, Ambassador Baucus and his wife toured the public areas of Xinya College and learned about the college's educational philosophy and practices. Xinya College students led UM students in groups on a tour of Xinya College, facilitating friendly, lively, and insightful exchanges.

Afterwards, both sides participated in a luncheon and exchanged ideas. In his address, Dean Mei emphasized that "life," "interdisciplinarity," and "openness" are three core concepts prioritized by Xinya College, and these are the values young people should adhere to in an era of uncertainty. He encouraged students to adopt an "open" perspective toward the world and to foster mutual understanding. Ambassador Baucus highly commended Xinya College's educational philosophy and stated that exchanges between young people are a crucial means to promote China-U.S. relations. He noted that both sides will explore further opportunities for exchange and cooperation in the future. Two student representatives from the UM voiced their hopes for building a brighter future together, delivering their remarks in both Chinese and English. The exchange featured lively interactions and a vibrant, warm atmosphere.

Through this visit, young people from both countries deepened their understanding of each other and further strengthened their friendship.
