In celebration of Tsinghua University's 115th anniversary, Xinya College hosted an alumni collective talk on April 25. Xinya College students from the classes of 2018 to 2029 gathered to reminisce about their time on campus and discuss the college's future development. The event was attended by Professor Mei Ciqi, Dean of Xinya College, Professor Zhang Weite, Secretary of the General Party Branch and Deputy Dean, Professor Shao Yue, Deputy Dean, and Dr. Jiao Yang, Assistant to the Dean of Xinya College.

Professor Mei opened the event by welcoming the returning alumni and sharing updates on the college's progress over the past year. In sports, the Xinya College men's soccer team clinched the Group B championship at the John Ma Cup, a testament to the perseverance and dedication of generations of Xinya College students. Regarding facilities, the college completed building renovations and upgrades during the winter break, striving to create a warm, shared space for living and socializing. Academically, the college continues to explore the "Xinya Small Classes," a small-group teaching model, introducing multiple interdisciplinary courses to highly positive feedback. Professor Mei also extended an invitation to the alumni, noting that future small classes will seek to transcend campus boundaries, and welcomed them back to participate in these learning and exchange opportunities.
During the open discussion, returning alumni took turns sharing their memories of life at Xinya College and their personal growth journeys. Recalling their time at the college, attendees noted that the impactful general education courses, the warm camaraderie between students and faculty, and the days spent together in shared spaces have become a lasting source of inspiration on their paths forward. Alumni who have already entered the workforce shared their insights, setbacks, and moments of uncertainty in their professional and personal lives. Drawing on their own experiences, they offered current students valuable advice on internships, employment, and career planning. Several alumni in attendance proposed building a Xinya College alumni network and communication platform to improve mentorship mechanisms, pool alumni resources, and support both the college's development and the growth of current students.

In his closing remarks, Professor Zhang Weite shared amusing anecdotes about times faculty and Xinya College students spent together. He emphasized that these collective memories are an integral part of the Xinya College spirit and expressed his hope that successive generations of Xinya College students will carry forward the college's ideals and warmth.

The event concluded amidst laughter and cheerful conversation. Xinya College stands as more than just a campus or a building; it is a warm home composed of every vibrant member of the Xinya College community. We look forward to welcoming our alumni back home often!
