WAN Junren

Wan Junren was born in 1958. He graduated from Peking University and received his Master’s degree in philosophy. He is currently a professor, Ph.D. student supervisor, and the Chair of the Department of Philosophy. He is also the chair of Academic Committee of the School of Humanities and Social Sciences, member of Academic Committee and member of Professorship Selection Committee of Tsinghua University. He has been appointed ‘Yangzi Scholar’ Title Professor by the Ministry of Education (2008).

His main interests are ethics and political philosophy. He has chaired more than ten projects including important ones sponsored by the National Social Science Foundation and by partners of international cooperation. He has been visiting scholar in Department of Philosophy and the Harvard- Yenching Institute at Harvard three times as a visiting fellow, a visiting professor and as a Fullbright scholar, and has visited and taught in many universities or research institutes in Europe, USA, Japan, South Korea, and Hong Kong and Taiwan.

His honors include more than ten important academic awards such as “The First National Universities Excellent Achievement (Books) Award”, “The Second Jin Yuelin Academic Achievement Award”, “An Excellent Young Teacher Honorship”. He has published sixteen books and translated eighteen books from English into Chinese. He has also published more than two-hundred articles both in English and Chinese in journals at home and abroad.
