On May 12, Liao Ruijin, Vice President of Chongqing University (CQU), Yao Fei, Deputy Dean of the university's Institute for Advanced Studies in Humanities and Social Science, Tang Jie, Deputy Dean of Liberal Arts College, Zhang Xiong, Deputy Dean of Hongshen Honors School, Li Dong, Deputy Dean of College of Mathematics and Statistics, Wu Xiaozhi, Deputy Dean of College of Physics, and their retinue visited Xinya College and carried out thematic symposium for exchanges in terms of general education cultivation, the establishment oftheresidential college system and other aspects. The attendees of the symposium included Gan Yang, Dean of Xinya College, Ruan Dong, Head of Party Working Group of Xinya College, Zhao Xiaoli, Deputy Dean of Xinya College, and Zhang Jingfang, Director oftheCollege Administration Office.

Dean Gan Yang started his speech with his sincere welcome to all visitors fromCQU and briefly introduced the development of general education cultivation, cross-disciplinary construction, college community and other aspects in Xinya College over the last few years.

Vice President Liao Ruijin also gave an introduction to the establishment ofanundergraduate school, exploration in the reform oftheresidential college system and building oftheschool-wide general education curriculum inCQU. Later, an in-depth discussion was carried out on relevant issues, such as the cultivation principles of undergraduate study, general education curriculum building, connection and integration of general education cultivation and professional cultivation, and cross-disciplinary construction of new engineering-related sciences.

Upon the completion of the symposium, CQU’s Vice President Liao Ruijin and his retinue visited Xinya Library, seminar rooms, music rooms and other public activity space in the college, accompanied by Deputy Dean Zhao Xiaoli.
