The "Ma Yuehan Cup" Student Sports Games is a school-wide sports event named after Ma Yuehan, a well-known professor in the history of Tsinghua University and the leading authority in the Chinese sports circles. It has dozens of competition events and is attended by nearly 10,000 people every year. It is a big stage for Tsinghua students to showcase their competence and demeanor.

The students at Xinya College put aside the study for a while and competed on the green field in the springtime. The women's basketball team was back to the arena with no fear in the face of strong challengers. The team in the 10,000-meter relay race ranked among the best. The bodybuilding athlete, mighty in spirit and heroic bearing, won the championship.

Introduction to bodybuilding competition

The 18th Ma Yuehan Cup Bodybuilding Competition in the 2020-2021 academic year was held in thecomprehensivegymnasium of Tsinghua University at 13:00 on March 25, 2021. There were 22 competitors.Xu Yizhi, a student fromXinya College, stood out from the fierce competition andwon the men's bodybuilding championship.

Introduction to 10,000-meter relay race

The 10,000-meter relay race can be counted as one blood-boiling annual event of Tsinghua University. On March 25, the 9th Tsinghua University Ma Yuehan Cup 10,000-meter Relay Race was started on the east side of Zijing Athletic Field. Xinya College sent runners including Li Hanming, Tu Kaiyuan, Huang Yifei, Wang Min, Xiao Shunwu, Zhang Kaige, Sun Yi, Wang Chenghao, Yang Xinhang, Fan Ziyi, Xu Xiaomeng, and Feng Siyuan. They raced on the field in close collaboration and obtained the honor forthe college.

Achievements of women's basketball team

On October 19, 2017, the women's basketball team of Xinya College participated in the first competition. The girls didn’t win though, they competed bravely and excellently. (No news has been heard since then about this legendary team probably because there were few members and the training was so hard.)

On March 13, 2021, the women's basketball team 2.0 of Xinya College with members from students enrolled in 2019 and 2020 attended its first competition!

It was this team versus that from School of Architecture. The players followed the defense-oriented tactics developed by the coach before the game, and tried their best to prevent the opponents from getting scores. After a few rounds, the coach called a timeout to adjust the tactics. Finally, the team from School of Architecture won victory with richer experience. Still, the team from Xinya did their best for the game!

The team encountered that from School of Economics and Management, the previous champion, and went all out again. In a competing round, Zhan Ziyi, a player from Xinya, shot at the basket decisively and perfectly, and got the first scores ever for Xinya! Although the team was defeated at last, the fighting spirit of the members inspired us all.
